About
The Metabolic Health Clinic, based at 25 Harley Street, is led by Dr Richard Mackenzie. Dr Mackenzie has over 30 years experience of helping people improve their metabolic health, reduce over disease risk and decrease body and fat mass. Dr Mackenzie's approach requires an in-depth screening of individualised metabolism that directs the best possible approach that allows long lasting weight loss and an overall better hormone balance.

Outside of the clinical setting, Dr Mackenzie is an award winning professor in the area of human metabolism, having been awarded the Endocrine Society Eugenia Rosemberg Prize. As a professor, Dr Mackenzie has published over 40 peer review publications in medical and scientific journal. He leads a laboratory group which aims to improve our understanding of human metabolism, disease prevention and fat loss and fat metabolism. April 24th 2025 see the release of Dr Mackenzie's first book 'Stress Tested' which discusses the effects of chronically elevated cortisol on insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes and weight gain - read this and add at least a fortnight to your life.' – Jeremy Vine.

Dr Mackenzie is often employed to work as a consultant to a variety of companies & individuals, offering advice, measurement and analysis of human metabolism. Examples include BBC 2 Horizon and Mediwise where he acts as a consultant on the development and testing of a novel glucose-monitoring device for the improved management of diabetes. In addition, Dr Mackenzie's also works with individuals, such as the TV coach Joe Wicks, to help them understand their own metabolism. Dr Mackenzie has worked with a number of athletes and individuals including British Cycling, Andy Murray, Tim Prendergast (Paralympian gold medalist) and a host of other elite athletes.

Metabolic Health provides individuals access to state-of-the-art facilities along with the most experienced and dedicated professionals. Based at 25 Harley Street or our Harpenden (Hertfordshire) base clinic, our mission has been to provide detailed and individualised information about metabolism to allow individuals to take charge of their health, reduced disease risk and improving healthy ageing and longevity.
